RYAN HURLEY
Originally from Huntington Woods, Michigan, RYAN HURLEY is a New York-based actor and singer.
Ryan recently returned to New York after performing in the original cast of the Las Vegas revival of JERSEY BOYS where he understudied the roles of Nick Massi, Tommy DeVito, Gyp DeCarlo, Norm Waxman and Hank Majewski. He has also performed in the Norwegian Cruise Line company of JERSEY BOYS. Regionally, Ryan has worked at THE GATEWAY PLAYHOUSE and was involved in two workshop presentations of Lisa DeSpain and David Simpatico’s new opera THAT HELL BOUND TRAIN.
Ryan is a graduate of THE JUILLIARD SCHOOL where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. While at Juilliard, Ryan performed operatic and musical theatre repertoire and appeared in productions such as the Met LiveArts, New York Philharmonic and Juilliard Vocal Arts co-production of Virgil Thomson’s THE MOTHER OF US ALL which was directed by Louise Proske and performed in the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has also performed the roles of Chevalier de Force in Poulenc’s DIALOGUES OF THE CARMELITES, directed by John Giampietro, and the title role in Offenbach’s ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD, directed by Mo Zhou. Ryan has also performed in Benjamin Britten’s THE BURNING FIERY FURNACE, directed by Edward Berkeley.
In 2018, Ryan attended the Vocal Institute at the Music Academy of the West, where he played Reid in the West Coast Premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s opera COLD MOUNTAIN, directed by James Darrah. Ryan is an alum of the LINK PROGRAM (Class 2) and trains regularly at the HB ACTING STUDIO in New York City.
Before college, Ryan was named a 2015 Finalist Winner by the NATIONAL YOUNGARTS FOUNDATION. Ryan has been performing since the age of ten as a member of the MICHIGAN OPERA THEATRE CHILDREN’S CHORUS (now Detroit Opera Youth Choir) and with the RACKHAM CHOIR in their High School Vocal Internship program.
